The Tesla Model S has (finally) conquered a recommendation by Consumer Reports. Back in May, after several tests, the magazine specifically said the vehicle was the best car it had ever tested, but still wouldn’t recommend it because it hadn’t gathered enough data about the new model, at the time.

CR-Apr.-2013-Cover1As stated by CNN, now that the survey data is in, Consumer Reports has officially given the Tesla Model S the valuable checkmark. Although the Model S is not completely perfect – according to customers who have complained about small issues like squeaks, rattles or malfunctioning door locks -, there’s not one single problem related to the car’s battery-powered electric drive system, for instance.

Although the overall reliability rating for the Model S was just average, the car’s stellar test scores were enough to conquer the recommendation. Tesla’s all-electric vehicle scored 99 points out of a possible 100 in the magazine’s performance tests, the highest score any car has ever received at Consumer Reports.

That one percent that the Model S didn’t manage to score is due to the fact that the car must be recharged on long trips, despite the fact that the vehicle has an extended driving range between 208 and 265 miles.

Although the Model S has already conquered several other awards and recommendations, Consumer Reports is still widely regarded as being the most influential magazine among car shoppers, so this is very positive news for Tesla.
